The Support Discs are specialized, high-performance fly-tying components designed to act as a versatile foundation for creating articulated streamer and baitfish-style flies. Specifically developed to complement the Game Changer hooks and shanks as well as the Beast Style fly, “Bob Popovics” designed. These discs (often referred to as "standard" or "oval" support discs) provide structure, stability, and enhanced action to modern, multi-material streamer patterns.
Key features and characteristics include:
• Structure and Stability: These discs offer a rock-solid platform for anchoring materials, stabilizing the fly's body profile from tail to head, and ensuring the fly maintains its shape under water pressure.
• Versatility in Design: They are highly effective for building advanced baitfish profiles such as shad, bunker, glass minnows, and chubs. They are particularly used for creating "disc-head" patterns that allow for unique water-pushing actions.
• Ease of Use: They are easy to install, sliding onto the hook or shank to secure materials. Tiers can flex the cone inside-out to expose a hollow inside post that can be tied down at the desired location.
• Material and Sizes: The discs are generally made of a durable, flexible material, and are available in various sizes ranging from 6mm to 28mm to match the scale of the fly being tied.
• Applications: They are designed for large articulated and non-articulated flies (4–12+inches) and are ideal for targeting predatory fish, including trout, smallmouth, striped bass, musky, and many saltwater species.
